Why Aikido for Kids?

Aikido is an ideal martial art for young people because of its non-competitive and non-confrontational philosophy. Its principles are based on non-resistance and harmonious movement. Aikido is a purely defensive art. Children are taught that punching and kicking are unacceptable ways of dealing with conflict. Instead, they learn to channel aggression into positive energy. Aikido teaches a "win/win" approach to conflict resolution. Instead of doing Aikido to or against an opponent, Aikido is done with a partner. There are no tournaments in Aikido, so your child receives all the positive benefits of martial arts training without the added pressures and costs of competition. In Aikido, no child ever feels like a "loser."

Our Unique Classes

Aikido Network provides a “Unique Fitness Experience” that is safe, fun, fulfilling and practical. Classes include teaching core values, warm-ups, stretching, basic movements, falling and rolling safely, self-protection skills, meditation and games that build skill and coordination. All classes are limited to 20 students for optimum learning and safety. Each child receives individual attention and progresses at their own pace. Although Aikido Network provides knowledge and not rank, students are rewarded with a coloured belt ranking system for achieving their goals. Parents are encouraged to stay and observe all classes.

The Aikido Network’s commitment to superior instruction is one of its fundamental values. Our caring, certified instructors will guide, encourage, motivate, support and empower your child in an appropriate manner that is safe, fun and effective. A special cushioned floor provides comfort and safety for everyone. The positive energy and relaxing atmosphere of the dojo creates an optimal environment for learning, and it’s great fun too!
