Why Aikido for Home Schoolers?

Aikido is an ideal martial art for young people because of its non-violent, non-competitive, and non-confrontational philosophy. Its principles are based on non-resistance and harmonious movement. Aikido is a purely defensive art – children are not taught that punching and kicking are acceptable ways of dealing with conflict. Rather they learn that aggression only leads to self-defeat. Instead of doing Aikido to or against an opponent, Aikido is practised with a partner. Since there are no tournaments in Aikido your child receives all positive benefits of martial arts training without the sometimes-unfortunate “side effects of competition. Aikido teaches a “win/win” approach to conflict resolution. In Aikido no child should ever feel like a “loser”.

Home School Family Classes

We recognize the importance of socializing home schoolers in a proper, non-threatening, physical educational environment, at affordable rates. This is why we have designed a successful fitness activity program for you and your family. This is a chance for you to have on-going, structured, physical activity, two times a week, during the day, that is taught by a full-time, certified professional.

Classes include warm-ups, stretching, self-defence, centering techniques, meditation, and fun skill-developing games. Parents are greatly encouraged to observe, or even participate in the training with their children.
